When going on an Alaskan cruise you will certainly want to know what to bring, because the last thing you want is to be unprepared. Although a lot of people think that Alaskan cruises always mean extreme sold weather, which is not always the case. The weather you experience depends on the time of year you go, because it really differs depending on the season. As far as clothes go, you will most likely want to bring jeans and/or slacks and a sweater or two. You might also want to consider bringing a raincoat in case you are on deck when it starts to pour. If you are going at a time of year when it will only be slightly cold out, then you are probably okay with just bringing a windbreaker to wear over your normal clothes.
Bringing gloves is another good idea if you don’t want your hands to get very cold while you are outside. If you are going at a time where it will be sunnier and warmer, then a pair of sunglasses and some bug repellent are probably two very good things to remember. Buying a pair of small travel-size binoculars can also come in handy if you happen to see anything interesting swimming through the ocean while you are on your cruise. You definitely don’t want to be the only person to have not spotted that beautiful whale in the distance.
A camera could also be very useful for the same reasons. Chances are you will want to document your trip with photos and video, which is why it’s a good idea to buy a camera that can do both. You don’t have to spend a ton of money on a professional camera, but it’s important that you have one which will produce quality video/photos. A backpack is another thing to remember, because if you get off the ship and decide to do some hiking or just walking around, you will have something to put all of your supplies in. Keeping everything organized at all times is important, which is why you will want to bring one with you.
Having spare cash on you is something else that you will want to consider before leaving. The amount you paid for your cruise does not cover gambling or alcohol, which happen to be two things that a lot of people enjoy on cruises. If you are one of them, you will want to make sure you have enough money to do what you want. Even if there is an ATM aboard, it will probably charge you a huge fee for taking money out, so make sure to bring some with you.
